Executive Summary – Interactive Tool

The executive summary section provides a high level overview of the business environment, builds upon the business overview section (mission, values, and business structure) and describes the product/ service offerings, customer categories, and a high level review of the business’ goals detailed in the previous section. Your team may choose to leave the summary (here) at the end of the planning document or attach it to the business overview section at the beginning of the plan.

The executive summary also supports the leadership team to evaluate:

Mission to product/ service fit Product/service to customer fit, & Goal(s) to product/ service fit

Misalignment between any of these can undermine the business model and leave customers dissatisfied.

Executive Summary

The business overview and executive summary sections represent a starting point for discussing the strategic planning process and highlighting the goals and direction of the current business model. These can also be used to identify future opportunities that are aligned with current competencies as well as establish training and strategic efforts needed to move the business forward.
